Yoga is a complete science of life
originating from India thousands of years
ago. It is one of the oldest systems of
personal development in the world,
encompassing body, mind and spirit. The
ancient yogis had a profound understanding
of man’s essential nature and of what he
needs to live in harmony with himself and
his environment.
They formulated a unique
method of integrating the body and mind,
essential for maintaining balance. The
method includes all the movements needed for
physical health.
The yoga postures (asanas) exercise every
part of the body, stretching and toning the
muscles and joints, the spine and the entire
skeletal system.
They also work on the
internal body, organs and glands. The yogic
breathing called Pranayama revitalise the
body and help to control the mind, leaving
you calm and refreshed, while the practise
of positive thinking and meditation gives
increased clarity, mental power and
concentration.
Before you begin classes you will be asked
to fill in a health questionnaire. This
gives me a clear idea of your needs within
the class and any modifications we may need
to make. If you have a more serious
condition you may benefit from a one to one
session and you will need to get permission
from your GP.
On arrival at your first class you will be
given a sheet with safety instructions.
Bring along a non-slip mat and a blanket to
cover yourself during relaxation. Wear loose comfortable clothes. Do not eat for 2 hours before a class. |
